Sedona, Cottonwood, Jerome, and Prescott

For nearly two weeks we've been enjoying the central Arizona area from our basecamp at the Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood just a few miles away from Sedona, Arizona. We've explored the nearby communities of Jerome, Prescott, and the Village at Oak Creek. We've eaten at some great restaurants, visited local bookstores, and sampled the local pie. Not too bad, huh!

I've spent nearly every day on the mountain bike. My favorite riding has been the trail system between Oak Creek and Sedona characterized by outstanding views of the red rock formations, challenging technical sections, and cool desert flora. So good.

Yesterday we spent the day exploring the historic, mountain-side town of Jerome. Robin liked the narrow streets, hidden parks, nooks, crannies, and steps that ascended to new unknown places. We stopped in at a haunted bookstore and visited with the owner and ate delicious burgers at the Haunted Hamburger restaurant. From our outdoor bar seat we had a birds eye view of the Verde Valley below.

Today, we head out for a weekend of boondocking and then check into a park near Phoenix.
