GDMBR: Heading to the Start

Let the adventure begin!

Thanks to Robin for the 4:15 AM shuttle to the airport. After an easy flight through LAX down to El Paso, I rented an SUV, picked up some last minute items, and reassembled my bike inside my hotel room. No problems except for a very bent rear brake disc. Thankfully a local bike shop was able to help me straighten the disc to a reasonable degree. The Rohloff hub requires a special disc that I’ll ship down the trail. Thanks to Crazy Cat Cyclery for the assist.

I loaded all my packs and gear on to the bike, and as expected, I think I’m going to be starting off a little overloaded expecting I can shed gear along the way.
