Highlights:
Today was a beautiful morning to ride. Despite the climb over Hoosier Pass, I thoroughly enjoyed the cycling. My legs were a little wonky from yesterday’s mud fest adventure. I stopped in a little town called Alma and stepped into the local mercantile. I love these little places in the small towns that have everything you need. The young couple inside were very friendly and I sat and had a coffee and a protein bar.
On the other side of the pass on my way to Breckenridge, I saw a huge bull moose feeding in a field. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a live moose. Breckenridge is not my favorite place. Very crowded, touristy, and glitzy. I rode over to a local national forest campground where old friend and fellow Bendite Steve met me. He interrupted a family visit in Boulder to drive down to visit. He brought his pup, Tahoe. We had a chance to catch up and dined at a local brewpub. We ended the night with a wee bit of bourbon around the campfire.
